Instructors

The Illinois Inspector Training Institute strives to make sure that our students receive the best possible education that we can provide. We think that includes making sure that our instructors are top notch professionals in their respective fields. Our instructors include:

Thomas A Corbett
With 18 years experience teaching and training inspectors and almost 20 years of actual inspection experience, Tom Corbett is one of the most experienced people in this business. He is a well-known inspector, national and international speaker on topics related to home inspection, and an active educator within the communities in the Chicago area. As the principal educator and operator of the school, Tom Corbett strives to make his students the most well-informed, ethical home inspection professionals in the market. Tom also runs the company Tomacor, Inc., through which our Field Observation Program is run.

Scott Soderstrom
One of Tomacor’s senior inspectors, Scott Soderstrom joined the Tomacor team in July 1999 after having taken the Illinois Inspector Training Institute’s pre-licensing course. Also a licensed civil engineer, Scott brings his experience as an engineer into the classroom. Scott has performed over 500 inspections (and still counting) through Tomacor, Inc. since he began with us, and he is currently one of our most requested inspectors.

Cheryl Pomeroy

One of the Illinois Inspector Training Institute’s newer graduates, Cheryl joined Tomacor in February 2004. A carpenter by trade, Cheryl has joined Tomacor primarily as an Illinois Inspector Training Institute instructor. Cheryl boasts a Doctorate in Anthropology from the University of Illinois, and she has previously taught courses on cultural anthropology on the undergraduate level at Loyola University, Chicago.

Art Stawinski
Art Stawinski is our resident Ethics instructor. Art received his Doctorate from Northwestern University, and he now runs a consulting firm in Chicago. Art gives our students all the necessary information on ethics and how a home inspector should employ ethical decision making in his dealings with clients.

Raman Chadha

Raman Chadha comes to us from the DePaul University College of Commerce, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate students. Also the Associate Director of the Coleman Entrepreneurship Center at DePaul University’s College of Commerce, Raman consults with Tomacor to provide business planning and other services. Raman also helps our students gain much-needed insight into the world of starting a new business.
