Sloppy housing deserves attention, and maybe some repairs.
If there is anyone out there reading this Blog that has suffered major building deficiencies in newer buildings, please notify us! After many years in the real estate and construction business, Tomacor has come to know many of the Chicago area journalist and reporters. Some of those people have told us that they are willing to document sloppy construction and the need for repairs. If this is you, a neighbor, or a friend, please email Tomacor at inspection@tomacor.com for a potential story.
Over 25 years of inspection has introduced me to hundreds and maybe thousands of Chicago consumers who are struggling with water infiltration and mold in their condos or single family homes. The simple fact of the matter is, the City of Chicago does not inspect masonry construction in residential developments. They don’t have the money.
To make things worse, homeowners are upside down in their mortgages and inside out within their inability to pay for masonry repairs or mold abatement. Furthermore, consumers are afraid to talk to the City for fear of being blamed or cited for a code violation made by the developer. All code violation citations become public record making it difficult to sell the property.
We are looking for stories at Tomacor that illustrate the primary fall out from our choice of not to inspect and not to demand in the housing market. Have you been injured or are you wiling to be interviewed, without your name or address being used, regarding your victimization by a developer or general contractor. If so, we would like to talk to you and pass your name onto someone who could conceivably help. In addition to solving your problems. You may strike a blow for quality standards in the housing market. God knows it needs it.
